Austin, TX – April 5, 2011 – Global touch screen manufacturer, Touch International, announced today the opening of its new touch screen manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China, as part of the company’s $10 million expansion effort and technology development.

Located in the Technology Park of the Long Guang District in Shenzhen City, the 50,000 ft.² production facility will bring approximately 500 new jobs to the area. Featuring a vertically integrated system that will expand Touch International’s manufacturing capabilities and streamline production, the Shenzhen factory will be equipped with cover glass and LCD to touch screen module (LCM) assembly sections that will complement its high-volume projected capacitive and resistive touch screen segments.

Touch International Chinese factory“Establishing the new factory in Shenzhen was a strategic decision that will allow us to double our projected capacitive production and offer lower prices while still providing the high-quality touch screen products that our customers expect,” explains Michael Woolstrum, Touch International CEO and co-founder.

Currently undergoing cleanroom testing and equipment qualification, the new factory is scheduled to begin operations May 1, 2011.

The opening of the Shenzhen facility is an important component to Touch International’s overall strategy for company expansion and comes just seven months after adding 12,600 ft.² to its Austin, TX headquarters facility. Currently, Touch International is in negotiations to improve the Austin location by adding cleanrooms and tooling to support its military, medical and aerospace customers.

“Expanding Austin’s factory brings more capacity in our design, development and value-add solutions for our specialty markets and products,” says Woolstrum. “Concurrently, increasing factory capabilities in China gives us a vertically integrated system, complete with touch screen, cover glass and LCM manufacturing components, which will give us a greater capacity for high volume product lines. Overall, Touch International remains poised to capitalize on worldwide touch screen market growth for years to come.”
